Board & Train

Our Board and Train program is putting your dog in the hands of a professional team; we turn out dramatic results that last a lifetime.

While private training is wonderful to support you working with your dog as a team, Board and Trains create an unparalleled result. Similar to sending your car to the mechanic where they have lifts and power tools you can’t access at home, a Board and Train’s dedicated training team uses controlled setups and dedicates hours each day to practicing. These setups are simply not possible in a home environment.

We understand many people are concerned about their Board and Train results lasting when their dog comes home. We know that your dog listening well to only his or her trainer has little value for you in the longterm. We’ve tailored our program since 2014 to create lifetime results in several ways:

We only offer custom programs. While we know budget is a huge factor- we only sell customized training plans tailored to your dog and their behavioral issues. You won’t see us offering “stock packages” of 2-5 weeks for any dog. We have found programs must take into account the specific dog and goals of each family. We understand the price tag of a shorter program is more budget friendly upfront. Every year we retrain a handful of dogs who are coming from “cheaper” programs where the results lasted less than 6 months. A customized program that lasts a lifetime is a much better investment.

Our program is a hybrid-with one-on-one coaching. We offer spend time coaching you and your dog as a team before and after your dogs stay with us. You are not lumped into a group of other dogs with different issues to glean what you can. These required sessions help you shift your relationship with your dog, create structure at home, and have time to be coached on on one with your trainer so you and your dog function as a team.

We supply you with videos and written handouts to help along the way to make sure you are learning along side your dog as a team. Our priority is educating you about your dog, and empowering you with the skills to handle like a trainer.

Your dog works with all handlers on our facility team while with us. We’ve found intensive training with only one handler creates codependency and makes it very hard to transition results home.

We offer continuous support. We like to joke that we “co-own your dog with you- families that work with us are often still with us when they bring home their next dog. We support your dog’s ongoing socialization through our training pack walks, we are here to continue coaching you as a team through private sessions, and we will support you with boarding or refresher programs when you travel to keep your dog in the best possible place with their training.

Dog training is not magic- it is a lot of hard work and a solid footing of education. We are proud to be a referral based business, which keeps us very invested in our dogs looking really great “in the wild”. I could not have been happier with the results that Moose and I attained in working with Tobey and their customized training package for us. He was initially very anxious and leash reactive and now he has settled in so well. My friends and family and even my vet (who was so impressed that in our last visit asked for the name and contact of my trainer) comment on how much better he is with his calmer energy.
